Passion is both fragile and fierce—a force that shapes us, defines us, and, at times, threatens to consume us. Passion At Heart was born from a deeply personal journey, an exploration of identity, resilience, and the quiet defiance of stepping beyond inherited expectations. In their fleeting existence, flowers often go unnoticed. Yet, when truly seen, they reveal a delicate strength, thriving in cycles of bloom and decay, embracing transformation without hesitation. This mirrors the internal journey I sought to capture—one of unmasking, of reclaiming space, of allowing raw emotion to surface. Each image in this series is an invitation to pause, to feel, and to honour the passions that pulse beneath the surface of our everyday lives.

The Collection: A Dance of Light, Colour, and Emotion

The works in Passion At Heart are not mere photographs; they are moments suspended in time, crafted through a multilayered analogue process that I have refined over the years. I use soft focus and movement to evoke emotion, allowing the forms to feel as if they are in motion—swaying, breathing, existing beyond the frame.

The vibrant richness of colour plays a crucial role in translating passion into a visual language. I do not alter what is captured; rather, I enhance the natural intensity of fiery tones, ensuring that the essence of the moment remains intact. The deliberate interplay of shadow and illumination creates a sense of depth—of something just beyond reach, much like the unspoken intensity of human emotion.

For printing, I experimented with various fine art papers to find a texture that complements this vision. The chosen medium, Hahnemühle Textured Matt Fine Art William Turner 310gsm paper, brings a tangible quality to each piece. The slightly rough, fibrous surface mirrors the velvet softness of petals, allowing the printed works to retain both the fragility and strength inherent in the subject matter.
